The Highliner Lodge is a growing, ambitious fishing lodge located in the remote fishing village of Pelican, Alaska (pop ~75).
Our lodge is home to some of the best sport fishing in the world. The average charter halibut landed in our area is 45 pounds (which is the highest average in the entire state of Alaska)... and is three times bigger than Sitka, Seward or Homer (this is a fact, not a hype, our stats are collected from ADFG statistics). The Highliner Lodge provides the best possible halibut fishing opportunities for our guests. We have charter halibut permits for both area 2C and area 3A on each boat and provide Guided Angler Fish (GAF) for all of our guests so that they may take a trophy sized halibut that they otherwise would have to release due to regulations.
Here, we are allowed to keep two halibut per day of any size for our guests using GAF. Most lodges in SE Alaska are restricted to one small fish per day. We also have the best king salmon catch rate in the state: 3 times better than Ketchikan, 4 times better than Petersburg, 10 times better than Juneau, 40 times better than Seward... and equal to, or better than, Sitka (again fact, not hype, from NMFS statistics). Qualifications: OUPV (6-PACK) NEAR COASTAL or better license, preference for experience fishing SE Alaskan saltwater (outside waters), hardworking, great people skills, attention to detail, good references, team player, must be very light or non-drinker and NO DRUGS. Pre-employment drug testing and enrollment in our random drug/alcohol testing program required.

The most important traits we look for when hiring a person is a good attitude and strong work ethic. You must also be adaptable, willing to help out in any capacity, and a team player. General Duties:

Contract Period:
June 1 - Sept 1 (subject to change, possible extension depending on bookings). We are also actively recruiting relief captains for shorter periods of time in the 2026 season.
Compensation:
-Starting base salary of $6,000/month (DOE). This is paid as a day rate of $200/day plus tips, which are typically about $100/guest per day... we fish 4-6 guests per boat.
-Gratuities averaging $300/day when guiding, share of lodge tip pool when performing shoreside work
-Captains typically average 80+ days fishing per season with hardly any days off. When you are not guiding, you may be asked to do other work for the lodge and will be paid your same day rate.
-Referral bonus ($250 per guest that you bring to us)
-Comfortable housing and excellent meals. Room and board deduction of $600/mo and covers room, meals, use of laundry and weight room facilities. Meals are high quality and nutritious. There is also an employee lounge with wifi.
